Brass JAR
Suite 1010
Operating out of The Rose Theatre (a custom-built performance space inside the Arizona Center), Brass Jar Productions offers a unique "night out" that bridges the gap between classic theater and a raucous bar atmosphere. Their primary Phoenix production, Drunk Shakespeare, has become a staple of the downtown entertainment scene through several key features:The Concept: Every night, one professional actor has at least five shots of whiskey and then attempts to perform a major role in a Shakespearean masterpiece while the rest of the cast tries to keep the play on track. The Venue: The show takes place in a secluded library setting surrounded by over 700 books. It features a full bar serving craft cocktails, wine, and beer during the performance.Interactive Elements: The audience is highly involved, with opportunities to influence the play's direction. There is even a premium "King or Queen" experience that grants two guests a throne, champagne, caviar, and "executive decision-making powers" during the show.Downtown Impact: As a resident production, Brass Jar has helped revitalize the Arizona Center's nightlife, drawing in locals, tourists, and ASU students for a 21+ experience that differs from traditional theater.
